Dear VATSIM Users,
I want to take a moment to reaffirm the core principle that defines our network: VATSIM is a simulation network, not a gaming network. From its very founding over 20 years ago, VATSIM was built to provide a realistic and immersive environment for virtual aviation—a place where people from all backgrounds can safely gather, learn, and teach.
With the impending release of the FlyByWire A380X aircraft, a new opportunity for realism arises. The A380, as many of you know, is an aircraft of considerable size, requiring airports that are equipped to handle it. In keeping with our commitment to high standards and realism, please remember Section B8(b) of our updated Code of Conduct, which states that “pilots should select aircraft that are capable of utilizing intended airports.” This means that members intending to fly the A380 should carefully choose airports that are outfitted to accommodate this aircraft to ensure the realism of our network.
Our newly updated Code of Conduct continues to emphasize our foundational expectations for pilot skill and accountability. It also provides standards that help ensure VATSIM remains a welcoming space for everyone who wishes to participate in a community focused on a realistic and immersive environment, while ensuring that users that cannot align with these principles do not have a place here. This policy is one we continue to stand by to protect the integrity of our network and our community.
