As we continue to enjoy the realistic experience that VATSIM provides, it’s essential that we uphold the highest standards of conduct outlined in the VATSIM Code of Conduct (CoC). These guidelines are not just rules but are fundamental to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all members on the network

Here are some key points from the CoC that every member should keep in mind:

  • A1 Courtesy and Respect: Treat all members with respect, fostering a positive and collaborative atmosphere.
  • A10 Patience and Tolerance: We all learn at our own pace. Be patient with those who are new and offer support when needed.
  • B3 Pilot Responsibility: As a pilot, be attentive as you stay connected throughout your flight. If you must step away, disconnect from the network to prevent disruptions. An unattended pilot can cause confusion and delays.
  • B8(b) Preparation is Key: Before each flight, plan and prepare. This includes familiarizing yourself with your aircraft, procedures, and route for a smooth and safe operation. Inadequate preparation can lead to errors that impact yourself and ATC.
  • B8(a) Following ATC Instructions: Always comply with ATC clearances and instructions such as instructions on holding position, speed/heading/altitude, landing approach, and IFR procedures. Communicate clearly if you have any difficulties.
  • B12 And during busy periods: When there’s high traffic, Air Traffic Control might implement traffic management initiatives. These could be ground stops, Expect Departure Clearance Times (EDCTs), or Calculated Takeoff Times (CTOTs). As a pilot, it’s your responsibility to adhere to these instructions. By following them, you contribute to the overall efficiency and safety of the network.
