Welcome back to another VATSIM SOAR! In this SOAR article we’ll briefly go over section A of the VATSIM Code of Conduct.

The VATSIM Code of Conduct (CoC) Section A lays the foundation for respectful and responsible participation within the VATSIM network. As a global community that brings together aviation enthusiasts, pilots, and air traffic controllers from all backgrounds, VATSIM relies on a shared commitment to professionalism, courtesy, and realism. Section A outlines general expectations for all members, helping to maintain a positive environment where virtual aviation can thrive.

At its core, Section A emphasizes that members must act in a manner that reflects positively on the network. This includes treating others with respect, avoiding disruptive behavior, and refraining from harassment or discrimination of any kind. Whether flying an airliner across continents or managing busy airspace as a controller, all participants are expected to uphold the same basic standard of conduct.

Additionally, this section stresses that realism is key to the VATSIM experience. While it is a simulation environment, the goal is to replicate real-world aviation as closely as possible. Therefore, users should strive for realistic communication, procedures, and behavior—whether interacting on voice or text, on the ground or in the air.

Section A also serves as a reminder that members are accountable for their actions across all VATSIM-affiliated platforms, including the network itself, the forums, and official Discord servers. Misconduct in any of these areas can lead to disciplinary action, ensuring that community standards are consistently upheld.

By following the principles outlined in Section A of the CoC, members contribute to a collaborative and respectful atmosphere. This shared responsibility allows VATSIM to remain a welcoming and enjoyable space for everyone passionate about virtual aviation.
